Providence Catholic held a 16-6 lead in the decisive third game, but the Broncos won seven straight points to cut the Celtics’ lead to 16-13. Montini trimmed Providence Catholic’s lead to 20-19 and 23-22 later in the game, but the Celtics hung on to their lead and earned a victory.
One day after losing to Providence Catholic, the Broncos completed their regular season with a three-game loss at Downers Grove South. Montini, which finished its regular season with a 25-10 record, is playing in this week’s IHSA Class 3A Trinity Regional in River Forest.
